My 2013 Beauty Favourites
A happy 2014 to all!!! Since 2013 has come to a close I
thought I would take some time to review some of my favourite and most loved
beauty and skin care products of 2013.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Serum Foundation (in 52 Vanilla)
This has been my go to foundation for the year. It has just
the right amount of coverage, is buildable, and feels light on the skin. I
wouldn’t recommend this foundation, though, if you have oily or combination
oily skin. I am hooked and will definitely be repurchasing this foundation in
future.
Milani
Baked Blush (in Luminoso)
This
has been my everyday blush when i don’t want anything too pigmented, but still
want a “naturally flushed” look. The Milani Baked Blushes have great
pigmentation and last all day.
NYC
Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder (in720A Sunny)
This
is my favorite drugstore bronzer. It has a matte finish and is great for any
everyday bronzed look. I think it is as good as, if not better than, NARS
Laguna Bronzer.
Diorskin
Shimmer Star (in Rose Diamond)
A
perfect rose highlight/luminizer that can double as a blush on paler skin
tones. I’ve also used it as an eye shadow to highlight my inner corners and
brow bone. It is definitely in the higher price range, but worth every penny.
Maybelline
Define-a-Brow (in Light Blonde)
An
excellent drug store find, comparable to many high-end brow products, such as
Anastasia Brow Wiz, and Tarte EmphasEYES.
Milani
Brow Fix Brow Kit (in 02 Medium)
This
is perfect if you prefer powder products over pencils for filling in your
brows. It comes with two shades, and a highlight. It also includes a great
quality small angel brush, a sponge tip applicator (perfect for applying the
highlight), and small tweezer.
Maybelline
Color Tattoo (in Bad to the Bronze, Inked in Pink, and Barely Branded)
I
can’t think of enough positive things to say about Maybelline’s Color Tattoo.
They are multi-purpose and come in a large range of colours/shades. They can be
used alone, or as an eye shadow base, and I would say they are comparable to MAC’s
paint pots, but at a fraction of the price.
Urban
Decay Naked, Naked 2, and Naked Basics Palettes
These
palettes proliferated the beauty world in 2013. They are so versatile, and
suite many skin tones. There is no stopping Urban Decay in 2014!
Cover
Girl Lash Blast Clump Crusher Mascara
I
have not found another mascara, drug store or high end, that beats Clump
Crusher. I have gone through several tubes this year, in both regular and waterproof.
I have nothing negative to say about Clump Crusher. It will definitely be a
staple in my makeup bag through 2014.
Smith’s
Strawberry Lip Balm
This
was a later addition to my makeup collection in 2013. It helps heal dry,
chapped, and sore lips. It’s also great to use if you are looking for an
everyday, my-lips-but-better, lip gloss.
Cover
Girl Smoochies Lip Balm (in #tweetme)
This
new line of Cover Girl lip products has definitely been popular this year,
especially with their social network/text inspired names. They come in a range
of 12 colors and give a perfect wash of color over the lips.
Cover
Girl Lip Perfection Lip Color (in 300 Flame)
The
perfect red lip! Just a small amount goes a long way. This lipstick is long
lasting, and leaves your lips slightly tinted. One piece of advice is to use a
lip liner, or seal the lips with concealer after applying.
Philosophy
Pure Grace Eau de Toilette
This
is my absolute favourite scent. It is the perfect “soap and water” clean scent.
If you dislike strong scents, you’ll like Pure Grace. I get compliments all the
time, and get asked what I’m wearing all the time.
Seche
Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
Like
the name implies, it is a fast drying top coat. I have gone through several
bottles this year because i love it so much. Just one coat over nail polish and
you’ll be out the door in under five minutes.
SIMPLE Moisturizing Facial Wash/Soothing Facial
Toner/Replenishing Rich Moisturizer
This
has been my skin regimen for the latter part of the year. Far better than the
Nivea products I was previously using.
SEPHORA
Collection Supreme Cleansing Oil
This is an absolute dupe for MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil. It is
less than half the price and is just as good. I use it on cotton rounds to
remove all my makeup, rinse off, and the follow up with my skin care routine.
DISCLAIMER:
All of the products mentioned have been purchased by me,
with my hard earned money. I have not been paid by any of the brands mentioned
to talk about or review their products. These are my own opinions.
